Designing Tips:

Do not be afraid to delete items to make a composition that you are happy with. I often think about an image for a long time before I started to illustrate - but sometimes I just start a line and form, then remove them. I take half of everything I draw, and from what the picture is changing

Consider the technology that will produce the work - you approach a color image for a print magazine other than something that you spray on a wall. Our wall decals illustrations are simple, one-dimensional and easy to cut, so we use the styles of the 60s and 70s with basic shapes

Make sure you keep track of your layers - I'm usually a lot in any room - and keep things in order. I only use the selection of Illustrator, Direct Selection and Pen tools, because I prefer not to leave the plethora of software (admittedly very good) tools get in the way of my vision. It is all about simplicity and execution

Choose a color palette that 1-3 primary colors and a 1-3 additional secondary colors that contrast and complement each other. Use different shades of the same color for consistency by adjusting the brightness for contrast. Finer characters will need stronger distinction on a colored background
